In March, 2021, dinny (yes, indy, I'm mocking you) stock was $191.16. Today, it was $92.50. So it's lost more than 50% of it "juice." It's last three movies have been failures. Oops! Most of this is because parents are voting at the box offices. They don't want their kids to see what dinny is offering.

We are opting to go to Universal this year. Much better than mouseland. I do appreciate the Mouseketeers' work ethic though. (much better than an "art" "school" "graduate").
They do very well.

Also, Universal has more to offer. As much stuff for the kids, and much more for the adults.
And. IT'S NOT DISNEY.

If disney fails, it's their own fault.

The fact you have to literally say you're mocking me should tell you it's not working, OD - I'll even help you out here with 3 good reasons why it's not working...

    1. In our original conversation, Disney stock was around $82 if memory serves - so it's gone up since we discussed it last time.

    2. I buy and sell - I didn't ride my Disney stuck down from $190 to $90 as you seem to believe. I sold it in the mid $160s and bought back in when it was around $80 using the profit from the previous sale - house money. IOW, my Disney stock didn't cost me anything.

    3. I'm not emotionally invested in any corporation or their stock - which includes Disney. If you want to go to Universal instead of visiting the Mouse? Best wishes - hope you enjoy yourself and your grandkids don't cry for more than a couple days or so when you break the news to them.

    4. Bonus points - Disney is not going out of business no matter how much you wingnuts hope and pray it does. The bottom line is there simply are not enough of you nutjobs to strangle the company even if ALL of you never bought another Disney-branded product in your lives.

When I was a kid, we lived about 15 miles from Disneyland. My mom would drop me and some friends off at the main gate entrance there many times over a summer. We'd buy a $7.50 admission ticket and we had tons of ride tickets from the previous time we went. Just before we'd leave, we would ask other people who were leaving if they had any extra ride tickets they weren't going to need. We'd collect them near the exits for about ten minutes before security would curtail our endeavor and kick us out. But before that we'd spend the whole day there, go on rides over and over again. The most expensive part of the day was trying to find something cheap to eat.

A few years ago when I was driving Uber, I picked up a ride for a mother and daughter who were going there to meet up with other family members. I hadn't been there for a quarter century. Didn't even recognize the place. Whole roads were gone in the area. I actually got lost, as the online navigator was trying to direct me to the middle of the town square on Main Street! The entrance for the parking complex now had it's own dedicated off ramp from the freeway, I unfortunately came to discover.

A family has to take out a second mortgage to go there now. Hundreds and hundreds, even thousands of dollars and no end to the options to spend more on once there. It's nothing but a giant, corporate, money generating machine on steroids now.

Quite a bit away from Walt's original idea of a nice permanent amusement park where parents could take their kids could go for some affordable family enjoyment. Light years away from when me and my friends felt like we owned the place.

I haven't visited a Disney park in over 20 years and I don't plan to ever again for reasons that have nothing to do with social issues or politics - they've just become too damned expensive.

Last time I went to Disney World was 1981. Some friends and I were spending the weekend in Orlando for the Rolling Stones Tattoo You tour (on Sunday). We were in an off brand hotel that was literally right across the street from Circus World - a REAL amusement park with real ADULT rides. I wanted to go THERE on Saturday - we could have walked over and spent the day riding 3 or 4 roller coasters (WITHOUT brakes like the Disney coasters) and other carnival type rides that are actually thrilling. But nooooooooooo.... my brother wanted to go to Disney. So we went there instead where there was basically ONE ride anyone over 18 could enjoy - Space Mountain. We rode that like 4 times and walked around bored out of our skulls the rest of the time. The kicker being it was some special event day of some sort and the park closed at 6pm so we didn't even get a full day's worth of "fun".

Can't remember what it cost, but I believe it was around $35. For comparison sake, the Stones tickets were $15 each (which we thought was outrageous back then 😂).

BTW, Indy and a friend actually made Disney history on Grad Night. If you want another long-winded boring Disney story - just say the word.

Oh forgot something... The real reason Disney is not doing as hot as usual when it comes to movies? Because they've been cranking out crap. The Star Wars, Marvel and Pixar movies all took a big hit on quality when Disney took over because the Mouse has no emotional investment in them. They're just properties to them - something they use to turn a buck.
